Research Projects

I lead the STICAmSul project "Dynarchi" in collaboration with Prof. Marco Tulio Valente from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil) and prof. Alexander Bergel from University of Chile, Santiago, Chile. This international project is on "Software Rearchitecturing using dynamic analysis" (analysing a program during its execution as opposed to analysing the static source code of a program).

Before that, I led the INRIA/FAPEMIG project "Pequi" in collaboration with the same Prof. Marco Tulio Valente This other project is on "Metrics, Techniques, and Tools for Software Remodularization".

I am member of the ANR project "Cutter", a collaboration between RMoD and the team of prof. Marianne Huchard at LIRMM, Univerity of Montpellier, Montpellier, France. The project's title is "Quality driven Object-Oriented Software Remodularization".

Company

I am co-founders of the Synectique company that builds advanced tools to help understand legacy software. This company is the results of our research.

Synectique offers tools that are highly customized to fit the client's needs. It can deal with a number of languages, both mainstream or less well-known (e.g. Java, Cobol, Mantis, 4D, Ada, ...); it can understand proprietary architecture (e.g. an in-house component architecture; specific asynchronous communication library); it can implement organization rules (e.g. commenting convention)
