The venue of ADHOC NOW 2011 is the beautiful city of Paderborn in Westphalia, Germany. Paderborn is a lively city with a rich cultural heritage. Many Renaissance buildings as well as remainders of an 11th century imperial palace and artifacts from the medieval age are visible in the city or its museums. The heart of the city are the springs of the river Pader, which gave the city its name, surrounded by parks and meadows.
Paderborn is situated at a forrested mountain range and close to several other natural and historic landmarks: the impressive rock formation of Externsteine, the Herman monument or Hamelin, the city of the pied piper, can be reached in a one hour drive.
